The jury

The awards jury met on 8 February to decide the winners of this 35th edition. The dean of the Catalonia Journalists’ Association, Joan Maria Morros, presided over the jury. The journalists Francesc Canosa, Noelia Casellas, Josep Cuní, Pepa Fernández, Lluís Foix, Francesc Guillaumet, Anna Sàez, Mariano Palacín and Mònica Terribas were also members of the jury. The director of the Patronat de Turisme, Juli Alegre, acted as jury secretary.

Award-winning works and journalists

The 35th edition of the “Pica d’Estats” International Tourist Awards, organised by the Patronat de Turisme of the Diputació de Lleida, received a total of 102 reports, of which 77 corresponded to state-level works, 12 to international works and another 13 to local media.

  1. The Award for the best journal article went to “Solsonès, la comarca de las mil masías”, written by Elena del Amo and published on 29 September in Viajar. The article looks at some of the main features of this county and its capital, Solsona, and focuses on its monuments, nature and sociological values, as well as the tourist attractions the area has to offer.
  2. The Award for the best radio entry went to the series of four reports “Julionejant per Lleida”, by Mercè March, broadcast on Saturdays in July 2024 by Ràdio Lleida – SER Catalunya throughout Catalonia. The reports focus on emblematic festivals such as the Raiers Festival, the Iron Fair, the Iesso Roman Market and the Dansàneu, Festival of Pyrenean Cultures.
  3. The Award for the best audiovisual entry went to the television report “La cassola de tros de Linyola”, broadcast on 15 October 2023 on La 2 as part of the programme La recepta perduda. The report explains the origins, ingredients and characteristics of this typical dish of El Pla d’Urgell and contextualises the character of this region through interviews with some of its inhabitants.
  4. The Award for the best journalistic report went to the article “Hostal de Pinós. 500 anys donant menjar”, by Oriol Clavera and Narcís Clotet, published in April 2024 in Descobrir. The report focuses on this legendary establishment in El Solsonès, one of the oldest in Catalonia, and explains its history, location, anecdotes and cuisine.
  5. The Award for the best photographic report went to “La Panadella, la frontera del paisatge”, a report with images by Santi Iglesias published in the spring of 2024 in Horitzons. The work takes the form of a singular visual journey, through curious and poetic images of the surroundings of the N-II road, through the counties of La Segarra, L’Urgell, El Pla d’Urgell and El Segrià.
  6. The Award for the best work published in local media went to “Josep Vallverdú, un horitzó de 100 anys”, a programme produced by Carles Gené and Eugeni Casanova and broadcast on 28 October 2023 by Lleida Televisió. The work is a spoken autobiography of the writer from Lleida, with several anecdotes from his life.
  7. The Award for the best international press entry went to the report “Le Segrià, Terres de Ponent”, published by Marie Costa in June and July 2024 in Cap Catalogne. It is a comprehensive and detailed tour of the main monumental, cultural, natural, scenic, gastronomic and oenological attractions of the region of El Segrià and its capital, Lleida.
  8. Finally, the Award for the best transmedia entry went to the report “Recogida de la oliva”, by María Jesús Tomé, published in October 2023 on the Tusdestinos.net website. The work, which combines text, photographs and video, focuses on olive oil tourism and includes an explanation of some specific experiences organised in the region of Lleida.
