The “Pica d’Estats” International Tourist Awards has been held 35 times since its creation, consolidating its position as a benchmark in the recognition of tourism journalism. Over time, it has added new categories, incorporating formats such as transmedia and international press. Each year’s event stands out for the high quality of the entries and the diversity of the media used. The prize money and the prestige of the award have grown over the years.
The first 34 “Pica d’Estats” Awards served to develop this recognition and increase its prestige in the world of tourism journalism. Over the years, hundreds of radio and television productions, printed articles, photographs and, increasingly, entries in digital format have been submitted. The Awards have contributed to showcasing the Lleida region through the eyes of communication professionals. Many of these entries have been published or broadcast in leading state and international media. The Awards’ trajectory also reflects the development of journalism and the way tourism is presented.
